A Re-forming Faith

One story among many

A new book, the third and final in a series begun with ‘A Restless Faith’ (2012) and ‘Faith without Fear’ (2016), was published earlier this year. I’ve entitled this one ‘An Honest Faith.’ Like the previous two, this one is autobiographical. It tells an increasingly common story of faith under threat. In my case, faith has survived and even thrived, albeit with new understandings and a spirituality to match.

In this book, I argue that Jerusalem (Christian theology and faith) is compatible with, and, in fact, needs Athens (philosophy and its spirit of
unhindered enquiry). They can definitely benefit each other. I warmly commend this book, and the two which preceded it.

Book Launch

An Honest Faith was officially launched on Wed 30th April. Uncle Ray Minniecon – Indigenous elder, statesman and friend – acknowledged country. People from various stages of my life and faith’s journey attended, reaching back to early days in Swansea and all the way through to Tinonee, and to the Anglican Parish of Taree where Jude and I are now happily involved. There were people from our time in Hay, at Moore College, from St James, Croydon, Holy Trinity, Dulwich Hill, and from my time with Corrective Services, NSW.

It was again a privilege to have Hon. Michael Kirby launch the book with dear trans friend, Steff Fenton, expertly MCing and facilitating discussion.
